Moms

I was listening to the radio while cleaning the house the other day and the song "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" came on. As I was mopping away, I was listening to the lyrics and I started thinking about how important Moms are in this world. The lyrics go like this...

He got here and wrinkled scared and cryin'
The she took him up and held him to her breast
And he sure was glad to get what Mama offered
Then he went to sleep and put his fears to rest

It didn't seem to matter what he needed
He could always count on Mama to supply
And regardless of the sleep she might be losin'
He always found a twinkle in her eye

There ought to be a hall of fame for Mamas
Creation's most unique and precious pearls
And heaven help us always to remember
That the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world

She taught him all the attributes of greatness
That she knew he couldn't learn away from home
And by the time she wore the cover off her Bible
Her hair was gray and her little man was gone

There ought to be a hall of fame for Mamas
Creation's most unique and precious pearls
And heaven help us always to remember
That the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world

Yes, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world

I thought of how God used a "Mom" to come to this world as a baby, Jesus Christ. Without a doubt, He could have used any method at all to make Himself visible to the world but He chose to use a MOM!

I can only imagine how Mary felt holding that tiny baby and looking into His perfect face. Holding His little hand and counting His toes. She would have rocked Him to sleep and watched Him grow. I'm sure she taught Him to say 'Mama' and 'Dada', wiped his tears and bandaged His scraped knees.

Then I got to thinking about my own Mom... I love her with all my heart. Do I tell her that enough? No... shamefully, I do not. But I must... she won't be around forever and I would never want to live with the regret of not telling her or showing her enough. So... I think I will send her flowers tomorrow, just because. Then maybe I'll send her one of my handmade cards, just because. And then I will surprise her and for once I'll call her instead of waiting for her to call me... Just because.

So... for all of you that are lucky enough to still have your Mom in your life as I do... thank God for her... tell her that you love her and take the time to do something nice for her today... I'm sure she deserves it!

I love you Mom!!!
