He has found the field...

Ok guys...

I know I don't blog nearly often enough and I have TONS of ideas for posts... just not enough time. This will be a different post for me. This is a 'join me in prayer' request... and may grow into more as it goes along.

I have been trying to convince my parents to move to Calgary for the past few years now. They are stuck up north due to Dad owning a somewhat successful but time-consuming company that keeps them tied down in my opinion. It was a necessity at one time but now the necessity has become for them to sell the company and move into their house here in this city (Which they will have owned for 3 years on the 20th of this month and have yet to spend more than a few days a year at).

When Dad was here in the spring, he got a little 'taste' of revival happening at our church. That has now grown into a hunger and when he spent a few days here in the fall, I was able to convince him it was time. I'd tried before, but he'd always tell me, "Just a couple more years..."

Now it's time!

So, to make this simple... please join me in prayer that his company sells... that it sells quickly, simply, and for the amount Bro. Jason D and I have been praying for. When I told Dad the amount we've been praying for, he told me, "That's too much! I'll never sell it!" But this is the same father that has told me for years that Jesus has been in this company from day one and when things got tough and it looked like he was going to lose his company, he trusted in God to save it. And save it He did!!! He not only saved it, He's increased it sevenfold. Dad has been busy when many, many guys in the same industry have lost their whole business and had to sell everything. Dad has received calls to work his trucks and he's told the company to give the work to someone else (even though his trucks may be sitting still that day) just so he could help other guys save their companies. He always says, "It's ok... God will look after me." And He has.

But, they are now 65 and 64 and it's time for them to rest and enjoy their retirement. They need to move into their beautiful home here in this city. I was shoveling their sidewalks this winter and I called him and said, "Dad, it'd be much easier for me to do this for you if I could look up into your living room window and see you sitting there with a hot chocolate ready for me." He agreed.

When he was here on the weekend, I mentioned it again and I started praying that God would speak to him directly. Our Pastor preached an awesome message on selling all that you have and buying the field (or a pearl of great price). God moved so powerfully. The song, "I just feel like something good is about to happen..." started playing in my head when I got up Sunday morning. The other line in that song says, "He has promised that He'd open all of heaven", and I believe that He will do it. He gave Dad this company, kept it alive, made it flourish, used it for His glory... now I believe He will sell it.

Ok... this is where I need your help. It's time to pray that God shows His true power and sells this company for my Dad... for the amount Bro. Jason and I have been praying. It's an amount that would make it impossible for Dad to second guess the decision. They could live comfortably for the rest of their lives on what would remain from paying off all debts. I believe that God CAN and WILL do it. My Bible says, "Where two or three are gathered together..." Bro. Jason and I are two... the more we have join in, the more God will have to listen... :)

The only addition to that prayer is that Mom feels comfort in the process. This has been their lives for so long that it's hard for her to let go and realize that they will be ok without it.
