Five Finger Prayer

It is obvious that our church is entering into the greatest revival it has ever experienced and in order for that to happen, we are going to experience opposition. I can tell you that our household alone is facing some of the greatest struggles we have gone through. As our Pastor has so aptly put it, we have targets painted on us and we're under fire!

We must stay vigilant... the victory that will follow this battle will be worth hanging in for! The only fire I want to be under is the FIRE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST!!!

I received this in an e-mail from my sister a long time ago. I needed this reminder today... boy! did I EVER need this today.

Five Finger Prayer...
1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C.S. Lewis once said, a 'sweet duty'.

2. The next finder is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes ministers, missionaries, teachers and doctors. They need support and wisdon in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the prime minister/president, police chief, leaders in business & industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our 'ring' finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says 'The least shall be the greatest among you.' Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

So friends... let's take time today and every day to pray for those around us. You never know what struggles someone else is experiencing. But God knows! And He is waiting for us to turn to Him... cast our cares upon Him... and give Him our pennies. He will turn things around for us as long as we give them up!

"Don't tell God how big your storm is, tell the storm how big your God is!"

God Bless... keeping you in prayer...

You're welcome... and thank you!

Sometimes we think we're in this fight all by ourselves but it's so good to know that we're not alone.

Thanks for fighting with me!

Hmmm.... that statement in itself is another blog post... lol

Lisa, that Five Finger Prayer is something I would like to put on a plaque to hang on my wall. It is another example of pointers in prayer. Thank you. cg :)

Thank You Sis. Cheryl,

Sometimes I overlook praying for our city officials etc... so it was a good reminder for me.
